The Burden in Life acrylic on collage of Korean ink and persimmon tannin drawing 122.8 x 95.5cm 2023
I wish for my painting to be in abundance of exploding bright lights, to be filled with sprouting healthy energy of life, and to hold the depth built up for long time. Painting is a persistent battle, a constant chase without reaching a satisfaction. But at one point, it resembles a life in a sense that it is truly gratifying in retrospect. I am only able to keep on fighting while believing in that someday, I would be pleased to realize that today was enough. I wish to portray in awe of this world that God has created and the lives of creatures who diligently keep on living. As people are living every second while perpetually struggling to make a choice on the unknown road of time, I wish that every element of my picture is also alive while eternally conflicting and uniting in chaos of otherness. I express ‘Being alive’ by flamboyant colors, powerful lines and faithful fitting and overlapping
